Obituary for Gladys M. Ibey (Dully)

Gladys M. Ibey (Dully)

NORFOLK - Gladys M. Ibey, 90, of 3 High Street, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at the Massena Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Gladys was born July 10, 1927 in Massena, daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Lazore Dully. She attended Massena Schools and graduated from Madrid High School in 1944, and graduated from the Watertown School of Commerce.

She worked as a legal secretary for Edward Bennett, Henry Howard, and Crapser and Maginn. Gladys was the tax collector for Madrid-Waddington Central School for over ten years, was a clerk at Martin’s Country Store in Chase Mills, and retired as a postal clerk at the Chase Mills Post Office.

Gladys was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waddington, and a former member of the Waddington Bowling League and Home Bureau of Chase Mills, serving as secretary for both clubs for many years. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and quilting for her family, reading, doing puzzles and playing bingo. She had a love for Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune so strong, you knew not call while they were on between 7 or 8 PM every night.

Gladys is survived by her children, Patricia A. Malota of Buffalo; Kathleen M. Stetson of Sheffield, VT; David J. and Kelly Ibey of Madrid; Peter G. and April Ibey of Mesquite, TX; and Andrew C. and Angela Ibey of Chase Mills; and three sisters, Loretta Dully Segar of Miami, FL; Theresa Dully Pennyfeather of Chase Mills; and Beverly Dully Sabad of Tennesee; and a sister-in-law, Jeanne Brown Dully.

She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Francis and Jolene Molata, and Margaret and Joseph Ball, all of Buffalo; Aaron Stetson of Sheffield, VT; Shawn and Tonya Stetson of Groton, VT; Jacob and Elizabeth Ibey of Colchester, CT; Kaleena Ibey of Mesquite, TX; Geoffrey Ibey of Madrid; Thomas Ibey, and Deanna Ibey, both of Chase Mills; and Cody Ibey of Austin, TX; and nine great grandchildren, Lilly, Owen Ibey; Emma Ball; Connor Malota; Anna and Riley Ibey; Drake Stetson; Piper Ibey and Paige Stetson

Besides her parents Michael and Margaret, Gladys was predeceased by a son, Thomas Michael Ibey on March 25, 1961; and two siblings, Cecile Dully Dufore and Andrew Charles “Chuck” Dully.

As per her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waddington.
