Obituary for Bruce Rowe

Bruce Rowe
MALONE – Mr. Bruce William Rowe, 67, of Low Road, unexpectedly passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at his home.

Bruce was born May 3, 1950 in Massena, the son of the late William J. and Ruth I. (Moore) Rowe and was a 1969 graduate of Massena High School. He later attended Canton ATC, where he graduated in 1971 with a degree in mechanical drafting. On July 15, 2016, he married Vicki L. Oakes at First Methodist Church of Massena with Pastor Rachael Jordan, officiating.

Bruce was a Journeyman Carpenter and self-employed contractor owning Rowe Construction R&L Construction. As a contractor, he was a member of the Carpenter and Millright Union Local 27, worked for Germanetti and Ryan Construction, and built bridges at one time in Virginia. As a master carpenter, he built homes throughout the North Country including his own beautiful home in Malone. He loved anything to do with wood, especially cherry. He used to say, one of his favorite smells was that of fresh cut wood. He enjoyed building in general including cabinetry and lovely furniture. He was always tinkering, fixing or building something. He could be depended on for “how to” as he could do anything, whether it was plumbing, mechanical, auto, or electrical. Bruce had a great love for being outdoors and nature. As a young man he enjoyed playing hockey, skiing, water skiing, later he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, doing yard work and gardening. He also had a great love for camping with sons and especially enjoyed camping at Fish Creek, which is a family tradition. He was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees Fan. He had a gentle heart, loved his family and was always there when needed.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Vicki; his sons, Shawn Bruce Rowe of Waddington and Joshua James Rowe and his wife, Stacey of Denver, Colorado; his grandchildren, Eric, Michael, Aiden, and Kaitlyn Rowe; his sister, Ruthann Rowe-Matthews of Massena; his brother, Barry James Rowe and his wife, Nicki of Louisville, Kentucky; and William James Rowe, Jr. of Bedford, Indiana; his beloved dog, Marley; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday 11:00 – 1:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where a celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 with Rev. Judy VanKennan, officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Kidney Foundation
