WINTHROP – Mr. Albert H. Flubacher, Jr., 89, of McCarthy Road, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, June 23, 2018 in the comfort of his home with his family at his side.
Al was born September 17, 1928 in Haledon, New Jersey, the son Albert H. and Annie (Millot) Flubacher. He attended schools in New Jersey and proudly served his country in the US Army. He first married Margaret O’Rourke on March 3, 1947, she predeceased him on September 30, 1991.
Before moving to the North Country, Al worked for a time for Ideal Farms in Haledon and drove tractor trailer for New England Motor Freight Company, Antrim, and while in the North Country, he drove for St. Lawrence Transportation Company. He also was a self-employed farmer for nearly 15 years and he and his wife owned and operated JB’s Market in Potsdam for many years. He was an active member of the Potsdam Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed cooking and was known for his spaghetti and enjoyed coin collecting at one time.
Al is survived by his wife, Pearl, who he married on November 24, 1995; his children, Kathleen and Ray Moulton of Stockholm; Louise Flubacher of Stockholm; Lawrence and Victoria LeaShomb of Norwood; Danny and Jacqueline LeaShomb of Norwood; Steven and Ann LeaShomb of West Jefferson, North Carolina; and Laura and Randy “Jim” Andre of Brasher; several grand and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by his sibling, Elmer, William, and Peggy.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00AM – 12:30 PM at the Potsdam Church of the Nazarene, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with his son, Pastor Steven LeaShomb, officiating. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery with military honors.
