Wesley was born May 30, 1948 in Hogansburg, the son of the late Jacob J. and Elizabeth (Swamp) Gray. He attended Mohawk and Salmon River Schools. In 1969, he was drafted into the US Army, serving his country for 2 years. He later married Catherine White, which later ended in divorce.

Wesley worked for a time as an ironworker with Local 440, before relocating to California. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, riding his bicycle around the community, and was an avid NY Yankees and Montreal Canadians fan.

Wesley is survived by his children, Gwen Gray (Jr. Benedict) of Akwesasne and Zane Gray of Syracuse; his step-son, Robert White of Akwesasne; his granddaughters, Rachel, Annika, Aubrey, Sarah, and Kendra; his sisters, Ginger (Eric) Seymour of Akwesasne; Patti (Chuck) Mancuso of Rochester; Marian (Michel) Ransom of Akwesasne; his brother, Arnold (Louise) Gray of Akwesasne; his godchild, Kellie Ransom; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Charles Robert Lazore on August 17, 1990 and David Jerry Lazore on February 7, 2011.

Friends may call at the home of his nephew, Noah Ransom, St. Regis Road, starting on Wednesday 12:00 PM until Thursday 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 AM at St. Regis Catholic Church. Cremation will follow.
