He was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church and a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Senior Citizens. He enjoyed golfing and playing softball, where he was a pitcher for many teams. He also coached Akwesasne Minor Hockey teams for many years. In his later years, Kerney enjoyed riding around the community on his scooter.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Francis and Bonnie Cole and Robin and Tate Lazore, all of Akwesasne; his grandchildren, Lindsay, Natalie, Travis, Jessica, Jeremy, Nathan, Carrie, and Teri; 13 great grandchildren; his sisters, Carol and Ronnie White and Claudia Martin, all of Akwesasne; his brother, Simon and Dorothy Cole; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four children, Dana Anthony, Denny Howard, Carrie, and Perry Cole; his brothers, Louis, Joseph “Dusty”, and Gerald “Wishe” Cole; and his sister, Charlene Cole.

Friends may call Tuesday 2-8:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Akwesasne.
