Obituary for Stanley Anderson

WEST STOCKHOLM – Mr. Stanley Anderson “Shorty”, 89, a longtime resident of West Stockholm, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2018 at the Highland Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since April 2014.

Stanley was born June 25, 1929 in Red Bank, New Jersey. Stanley joined the Army in 1946, where he proudly served his country for 23 years. That time included tours in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, as well as West Point, and numerous other assignments. Following his retirement from the Army in 1969, Stanley settled down in West Stockholm. Soon after, he was employed at Clarkson University, in the shipping and receiving department and as a groundskeeper. After a career of over 20 years, he retired. Always known for his kind heart and incredible sense of humor, Shorty will be fondly remembered and missed.

Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Verna (Greene) Anderson. He is survived by two sons, James (Frances) Anderson of Daytona Beach, Florida and Thomas Anderson of Potsdam; two grandchildren whom he adored, Jimmy (Teresa) Anderson of South Daytona, Florida and Melissa Anderson of Henderson, Nevada; and four great grandchildren, Colin, Kyla, Anthony and Alysha; and a brother, John Anderson of Englewood, Colorado.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM on October 13, 2018 at the Fairview Cemetery, Parishville.
