Obituary for Rebecca A. "Becky" Green (Spears)

POTSDAM – Rebecca A. “Becky” Green, 47, of 541 River Road, Hewittville, unexpectedly passed away Monday afternoon, November 12, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Becky was born June 3, 1971 in Potsdam, the daughter of Steven R. and the late Bonnie L. (Green) Spears. She was a 1989 graduate of Potsdam High School and attended SUNY Canton. On July 1, 1995, she married Robert P. Green, II at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potsdam. The marriage later ended in divorce.

Throughout her short life, Becky worked for various local businesses. She worked for a time at P&C Foods as an office clerk, she was the manager of Smalling’s Motel South for several years and worked as a secretary for Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam and later with the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena. More recently she was the coordinator for First-Time Home Buyers Program with the St. Lawrence County Housing Council. Of all her jobs, the one she cherished the most was that of a mother. Becky dedicated her life to raising her sons and cared for many other children in her home for many years. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her friends and family at the family summer camp on “The Flow” in Parishville. Becky had a very generous spirit and was always one of the first to offer a helping hand, an open door, a friendly shoulder to lean on, or a warm meal when someone was in need. This spirit will forever be remembered and missed.

She is survived by her sons, Kris and Brent Green, both of Potsdam; her father, Steve of Potsdam; her brother, Scott of Potsdam; and many aunts, uncles, a nephew, and many cousins.

Friends may call Friday 4-7:00 PM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 AM at Knapps Station Community Church with Pastor Lee Sweeney, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Norwood.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
