MARIAN S. FENNER

PARISHVILLE – Mrs. Marian S. Fenner, 94, passed away Monday afternoon, November 12, 2018 at the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, where she had been resident for the past year.

Marian was born August 8, 1924 in Parishville, the daughter of the late James and Beulah (Brownell) Spear. She attended schools in Parishville and later went to nursing school. On September 10, 1945, she married Floyd A. Fenner, Jr. He predeceased her on November 15, 1991.

She worked for many years as a nurse at Canton-Potsdam Hospital and also did private duty nursing for many families. In her late 40’s she went back to college to study bookkeeping and was the bookkeeper for Ames Department Stores. She later continued her education in journalism and photography. It was this career that allowed her write for the Courier and Freeman Newspaper and newspapers in Orange City, Florida, where she lived for many years. She was a member and greeter at the Methodist Churches in both Orange City, Florida and Parishville and a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Parishville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, writing, reading, knitting, and was always ready to travel on a moments notice. She and her late husband also cherished the many summers at their camper on Stowe Bay in Colton.

Marian is survived by her four sons and their spouses, Maurice and Bonnie Fenner of Massena; David Fenner and Sherry Newell of Orange City, Florida; Robert and Judy Fenner of Vero Beach, Florida; and Tom and Donna Fenner of Parishville; her grandchildren and their spouses, Tanya and Dan Conto, Matthew and Julie Fenner, Tracy and Alycia Fenner, Carrie Anne and Phil Brangiforte, Robert Jr. and Stephanie Fenner, Allison and Joe Leroux, and Carly and Andy Draper; 12 great grandchildren; her brother, Harold Spear of Lowville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Floyd A. Fenner, Jr.; and her siblings, Bernard Spear, Ruth Cantillon, Edith Brownell, and Maxine Pride.

At her request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the Summer of 2019 at Fairview Cemetery, Parishville.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the Jefferson County Hospice.

Arrangements are with the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where memories and condolences may be shared online at www.donaldsonseymour.com.
