Obituary for Rosalie Vergona Jadlos

Print
POTSDAM – Mrs. Rosalie Vergona Jadlos, 86, a longtime resident of Pleasant Street, peacefully passed away early Thursday morning, November 15, 2018 in the comfort of her home, under the care of her family and Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Rosalie was born April 29, 1932 in Guttenberg, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Tesoriero) Vergona. She graduated from Oswego High School in 1950 before attending SUNY Potsdam and the Crane School of Music, where she achieved her Bachelors Degree in 1954. She continued her education at SUNY Potsdam, earning her Master of Science in Music Education in 1958.

Rosalie started her career as a music teacher with the Scotia-Glenville School District and also taught for a time at Rush-Henrietta Central School. She taught music throughout the North Country at many schools including St. Lawrence Central, St. Mary’s in Potsdam, Canton Central, Potsdam Central, Campus Learning Center at SUNY Potsdam, and at Brushton-Moira Central School, where she retired. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton and was also a member of the New York State United Teachers, NYSUT Retirees, the New York State School Music Association, and the Crane Alumni Association.

Rosalie enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Her love for music continued into the arts as she was active with musical theatre and the Potsdam Community Chorus. She was also active with the S.O.A.R. program throughout the years and had a great fondness for sewing and crafts. Rosalie always loved being able to attend the gathering of her friends and colleagues at high school, college, and family reunions as well as Crane School retirees gatherings. Of all her enjoyments, she cherished the precious times she was able to celebrate with family during the holidays.

Rosalie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John L.; her children, J. Gregory Jadlos of Potsdam; Paul Jadlos of Potsdam; Karen Jadlos Shotts of Rockville, Maryland; and Christopher Jadlos of Avon, New York; 7 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Dominic Vergona.

Friends may call at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam on Monday 4-7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton with Rev. Bryan Stitt, celebrating. Burial will follow in Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to NYSSMA for the benefit of special needs children, Holy Family Catholic School in Malone; and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Canton.
