POTSDAM- Reginald P. Hanson, 87, a longtime resident of 5 Debra Drive, peacefully passed away on Sunday evening, December 23, 2018, at United Helpers Riverledge Nursing Home.
Reginald was born on May 16, 1931 in Potsdam, son of the late Robert V. and Rose M. (Miller) Hanson. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict serving in Europe, Italy and France. He married Janet Frances Duvall on September 15, 1952 at the West Potsdam Church. Janet predeceased him on January 12, 1983.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #74, was a St. Lawrence County American Legion Sargant of Arms, and a member of St. Lawrence County REACT. Reginald was a plumber working at Vivlamore’s Plumbing for over 25 years and after his retirement he worked on his own. He also worked on the construction of the Seaway and drove school bus. He enjoyed fishing, bird-watching, and more recently enjoyed watching the ships on the St. Lawrence while residing at Riverledge.
Reginald is survived by his children, Barbara Jean Webber of Potsdam; Stephen and Deb Hanson of Madrid; Bruce and Vicki Hanson of Canton; and Kevin and Brenda Hanson of Hopkinton; several grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one sister, Jean Farr of Parishville; and one brother, Ronald Hanson of Norwood; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Misty Marie Hanson and two great grandsons, Ethan and Dylan Lynch; and 10 siblings.
At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Burial of his cremated remains will be at the convenience of the family in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
