WADDINGTON- Ruby I. Dean, 92, of 167 McGinnis Road, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, March 30, 2019 at the Massena Memorial Hospital.
Ruby was born on April 26, 1926 in Lisbon, daughter of the late Hermon and Cora Chambers Fetterly. She graduated from Lisbon Central School and earned a degree in accounting from Canton ATC. She married Raymond P. Dean on August 2, 1947. Raymond predeceased her on December 24, 1987.
Ruby worked at the Jefferson National Bank in Waddington and St. Lawrence University as a bookkeeper. She was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her family. She loved to fish, and enjoyed leatherwork, knitting and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She admired all of nature and its wildlife, and playing cards, especially pinochle. Ruby was enjoyed baseball and hockey, and was a huge NY Yankees and NY Islanders fan.
She is survived by her four children, Donald R. Dean of Canton; Donna K. Dean of Waddington; Dianne L. Dean of Port Byron, NY; Danna L. Dean of Waddington; five grandchildren, Amy, Molly, Kaylynn, Kylee and Kenny; and five great grandchildren, Corrina, Riley, Wesley, Brayden and Alexa; her sister Judy Trombly; and her niece Rebecca Martin of Morristown.
Besides her husband Raymond, Ruby was predeceased by a son, David P. Dean on September 15, 2014; a grandson Nelson P. Dean in infancy; her brother Orville Fetterly; and her sister Edna Barkley.
As per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery, in Degrasse, at the convenience of the family.
