MASSENA – Reva M. (Smoke) Kelley, 67, of Maple Street Road, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 16, 2019 at her home.

Reva was born May 5, 1951 in Massena, the daughter of the late Peter and Rita (Gray) Favreau Smoke. She was a 1969 graduate of Massena High School. On May 24, 1969, she married Edward J. Kelley at the First United Methodist Church in Massena. He predeceased her on August 14, 2003.

Reva worked for a time in the kitchen at Massena Memorial Hospital before moving to Florida in 1980, where she worked at an Arts and Craft Distributor and went an upholstery school. She also worked for at time managing the Indian Village Concession Stand at the Saw Grass Rec Park. In 2001, they moved to Vermont, where she worked at Walmart for a year. Moving to Massena in 2002, she started working the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe Family Support as a Hab Aide at Sweet Flags, where she worked for 10 years. Her great job in her life was raising her sons, especially her “Mickers”. Since the age of 14, she has been sewing and took great pride in it. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting, and doing various different crafts.

Reva is survived by his sons, James Edward and Michael John Kelley, both of Massena; her grandson, Aric J. Kelley; a chosen son, Jesse Blackburn of Vermont; a chosen daughter, Louise McComber of Akwesasne; her sister, Marty Bush of Akwesasne, Quebec; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Peter Smoke, Jr. on January 11, 1981.

At her request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Sweet Flag Estates Recreational Fund.

So very sorry to hear of Reva's passing. We lost contact after high school, but I considered her a good friend in high school. She cared so much for others. Heaven certainly gained another angel. My condolences to her family.

Reva was a very good woman. I enjoyed chatting with her. I met her when she took clients from the Sweet Flag apartments in Akwesasne to the Massena Senior dances. She was so good to these people. Reva will truly be missed by so many people.

I’m so sorry for the loss of this woman. My condolences go out to the Kelley family. There’s a Scripture d love to share that always comforted me when I lost someone close to me in death. It’s in Revelation 21:4 which causes says: “And he [God] will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither wklll mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” This is a promise from God they he will end death forever in the future and we will see our loved ones again!
