Obituary

BRASHER FALLS – Pauline Jean Goodnough, 94, passed away late Monday evening, August 5, 2019 at the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she had been a resident since 2014.

Pauline was born May 13, 1925 in Santa Clara, New York, the daughter of the late George and Nora (Brown) Farmer and attended schools in North Lawrence. On September 23, 1943, she married Lawrence Albert Goodnough. He predeceased her in April 1973.

Pauline was a dedicated homemaker to her daughter and the countless children she raised as a foster mother in St. Lawrence County. She took great pride in her home with her flower gardens and rose bushes. She had a great love for all animals, especially her cats and always enjoyed going for lunch dates with her friends and family.

Pauline is survived by her daughters, Bonnie McCarthy of Massena and Tina Marie Carlton of Boise, Idaho; her grandchildren, Patti (Chris) Kellogg, Jeremiah, Samantha, and Noah McCarthy; her great grandchildren, John, Jake, and Joseph Kellogg, Jonah Sharpe, and Collin and Katherine DeForge; a special friend “Christina,” who she babysat from pre-school age to her midteens; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Cynthia Sharpe; an infant grandson, Raymond Lawrence McCarthy, who tragically died in a car accident; and her twin brother, Paul and other siblings, Claude and Manfred Farmer, and Loretta Taylor.

Friends may call on Monday 12-2:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where a service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Activities Fund.

In the short time we have known Pauline through our visits at nursing home she has a special place in our 💕. We had laughs together. Pailine and Pat always joked around putting a smile on the faces of those sitting with us. Our sympathies to her family. Lovingly Pat and Sharleen Jay
