Richard (Dickie) Francis, 85, of Saint Regis passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of September 11th, 2019.

It is with a heavy heart that I learned of Dickie’s death. I met him in 1976 on a project in Illinois where he worked with my late husband. He always told me that the NorthCountry was “God’s Country”. New Years Day in 1978 I had the opportunity to visit him and met Marita. They welcomed me into their home and saw that Scott took me on my first snow mobile ride. Across the frozen St Lawrence. Dickie and my husband Bill were good friends and shared the love of Ironworking, building a pontoon boat, and many a bottle of Budweiser together. He taught me a bit of Mohawk words which I still use from time to time. I learned how to make corn soup and coleslaw from Marita but not nearly as good. Those were the days and until we meet again, Rest In Peace my friend..
