MASSENA – After a lifetime battle, Christopher J. Meacham, 62, of Marie Street, passed away Sunday evening, November 10, 2019 at University of Vermont Health Network – Alice Hyde Medical Center with his family by his side.
Chris was born November 9, 1957 in Massena, the son of the late Frederick and Elenia (Raymond) Meacham. He attended Massena Central Schools, graduating in 1976. On September 12, 1981, he married Karen A. Kingston at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Chris worked for a time as a Machine Operator for General Motors until becoming disabled due to his health in 1986. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and member of the Sons of the AMVETS. Chris was committed to the sports of the children in Massena as he was the Commissioner of the Massena Minor Hockey and played an active role in the success of Massena Little League Baseball. He cherished the time he was able spend in the woods hunting or on the water fishing, camping, and being with his grandchildren.
Chris is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Eric and Melissa Meacham of Malone; Matthew and Lindsay Meacham of Downers Grove, Illinois; and Aimee and Christian Poirier of Norfolk; his beloved grandchildren, Logan and Brock Spaulding, Merick, Rourk, Tenley, and Landon Meacham; Brody, Briella, and Brayden Poirier; his sisters, Linda and Gary Gladding of Massena and Nancy Schneider of Texas; his brother, Robert and Debbie Meacham of Winthrop; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 on Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
