POTSDAM- Raymond R. Charleson, 90, of 291 Russell Turnpike Road peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Canton Potsdam Hospital.
Raymond was born on August 7, 1929 in Pierrepont, son of the late Raymond and Maude Couglar Charleson. He attended Potsdam schools and served in the US Army during the Korean conflict until his honorable discharge. He married Betty A. Foster on November 22, 1958 in Newton, NJ.
He was a member of the Local #7 International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers. He was a brick layer and superintendent for Schickel Construction in Malone, NY. Raymond was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, camping and reading. He enjoyed the outdoors, making maple syrup, watching birds, gardening and tending to his many Christmas Cactus’. He restored several antique cars and was a skilled carpenter. Most of all he treasured his time with his family.
Raymond is survived by his wife Betty; his children, Belinda and John LaBrake of Florida; Reatha and William Bouchey; DonnaLee Severance of Alabama; Raymond and Julie Charleson of Parishville; Cynthia Charleson of Alabama; Larry and Margaret Charleson of Parishville; Betsy and Robert Robar of Potsdam; Sally Charleson and Roger Law of Colton; Penny and Jerry Thomas of Colton; Randy Charleson of Parishville; and Pamela Charleson of Parishville.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mark, David, Jerry, Melissa, James, Barb, Jason, Matthew, Angie, Travis, Hunter, Michael, Bobbi-Jo, Buddy, Elizabeth, Sarah, Garrett, Calli, Mitch and Kelsey; several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; his sister Betty Edwards; and his brothers, Lyle, Ronald, Ernie and Francis Charleson.
Besides his parents Raymond and Maude, Raymond was predeceased by his brothers Donald B., Robert, and Peter Charleson; his sister Emily Shattuck; and Anna Marie Charleson in infancy.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Seymour Funeral Home Thursday 4-7 PM, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM with Pastor Lee Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in the spring.
