AKWESASNE – Ann C. Gray, 69, of 516 Cook Road, unexpectedly passed away Sunday morning, December 22, 2019 at University of Vermont Health Network at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital.

Ann was born December 30, 1949 in Manhattan, the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Stolinas) Kaporch. She attended schools in Flushing. In 1968, she married Louis Gray, Sr. at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. George Brodeur, officiating.

While she was living in Manhattan, she worked for Metropolitan Insurance Company. After moving to Akwesasne, she worked in the Administrative office at Sears in Massena. She was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church and member of the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group. Ann had a great love for cooking, watching Jeopardy, playing cards, and will be fondly remembered by many as a social butterfly.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, Louis; her daughter and companion, Tracy Gray and Mitchell Jacobs of Akwesasne; her son, Brian Gray of Malone; her grandchildren, Shelby, Brian Jr., Brock, and Louie; her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Kenneth Robenault of Easton, Pennsylvania; her brother and sister-in-laws, Ed and Joanne Kroepfl of Flushing, New York; and George and Barbara Kaporch of Union, New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by a son, Louis Gray, Jr. on November 16, 2008 and her sister, Lorraine Gray on January 8, 2002.

Friends may call on Thursday starting at 7:00 PM at the Akwesasne Homemakers until the time of services on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may direct donations to assist the family.

Ann, you are the reason I have a beautiful daughter today. You set me straight and encouraged me to keep pushing forward to achieve my dream. Although life brought us in different directions you will always and forever be a part of the fabric of my life. You showed kindness and caring in everything you did and everything you said. May you rest in peace and know that the world was a much better place with you here.

RIP my old friend from many years ago. I am sorry we did not connect before I left almost 4 years for NC. I will never forget the wonderful meals you prepared for the bunch of us in the office at Sears. We sure did have fun and the memories will stay with me forever. Until we meet again Ann, your old friend Cindy Brothers.
