BRASHER IRON WORKS – Judy M. Rubado, 81, a longtime resident of Smith Road, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 28, 2019 at the University of Vermont Health Network – Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Judy was born December 18, 1938 in Massena, the daughter of the late Willis and Pearl (Rubado) Barney. She grew up in Brasher where she attended rural schools before graduating from St. Lawrence Central School. On February 5, 1957, she married Joseph J. Rubado at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hoganburg with Msgr. Walter Funke, celebrating. Joe predeceased her on February 4, 2007.
Judy was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and loved playing around on her iPad. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her children, Joan and Robert Clark of Brasher; John and Melissa Rubado of Brasher; Tammy and Robin LaVare of Bombay; Jody and Chad Ward of Helena; Kay Rubado of Massena; and Amy and Trevor French of Brasher; her son-in-laws, Frank Pecore of Brasher and Chris Ryan of Brasher; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; a chosen daughter, Tina LaVare and her family of Brasher; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Judy was predeceased by two infant sons, Joseph Jr. and Terry Rubado; two daughters, Bobby Jean Rubado on September 14, 2016 and Mary A. Pecore on September 28, 2019; two grandsons, Trent French and Bentley Rubado-Ryan; her sister, Lorraine Spoor; and brothers, Willis Jr., Leon Sr., Edward, Reggie, and Raymond Barney.
Friends may call Friday 4-7:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM. Spring burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Brasher.
