OGDENSBURG – Franklin D. Howie, 72, peacefully passed away on June 27, 2020 at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care (Riverledge) in Ogdensburg after suffering a stroke.

Frank was born October 2, 1947 in Ogdensburg, the son of the late Dean and Barbara (Snyder) Howie. He was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and DeVry University. He married Teresa E. Briggs in 2002 at the Ogdensburg Methodist Church.

Frank worked for a time at the Hi-Fi Shop in Massena before going to General Motors, where he retired in 1995. Frank was an antique car buff, who took great pride in his precious 1937 Studebaker and was active with the Seaway Cruisers Car Club. He also enjoyed woodworking, boating and will fondly be remembered for being such a kind and gentle man.

Frank is survived by his wife, Teresa; his son, Robert Howie; his stepchildren, Amy and Mark Tiernan of Canton and Crispian and Tammy Briggs; his grandchildren, Daniel, Cameron R.M, and MacKenzie Reif; his step-grandchildren, Allison, Sam, Victoria, Quentin, and Ethan; his sisters, Betty and William Wolf, Deborah Andross, and Shirley Snyder; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Christine Reif in 2004.

At his request, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life and burial will be held at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Diabetic Association.

Terry, I was so happy to meet you and to talk with Frank about all the fun we had as teenagers. He always had a smile and seemed to be happy to talk with me. I am so sorry to hear of his passing . I remember when he returned to RiverLedge he was so happy to tell me about going to the wedding and getting to dance with you one more time. I hope your memories help you through this sad time. Sue Lockhart English (worked in office at Riverledge).
